15. How were the rates for wrap-aroun d care determined?
A single child may average about 2–3 hours of care per day during the school year, and then more hours during summer, holidays, and breaks. For wrap-around Care , the provider is paid the same monthly wrap-around rate all year. The rate isn’t tied to the exact number of hours used each month — it is a flat monthly payment intended to balance higher costs during the school year and lower costs during summer months. On average, this amount is higher across the year than current rates. This change is intended to reduce administrative burdens on families and providers, by limiting the need for these families to amend their Child Care Assistance benefits at the beginning and end of the school year.
