10. Families are asked to self-attest whether or not they have assets of over a million dollars. What is this requirement, and does this affect eligibility?
When applying for care, families will be asked whether or not they have assets of over a million dollars—yes or no. Answering this question will not affect your eligibility for care. ECECD only needs to collect this information to ensure that care for families who have assets of over a million dollars is paid for with state funds, rather than federal funds.
Additionally, asset information is collected through self-attestation only. This means that ECECD will not collect documentation to verify a family’s assets. All child care assistance applications and supporting documents, including financial information, are kept confidential.
