417 RESOURCE ASSESSMENT (AAM)

A resource assessment is used to determine the available resources of both an institutionalized individual and the community spouse at the time of institutionalization. Count both individual ’ s resources as if they were both applying for assistance.

At the time of application use the information from the assessment to determine the amount of the community spouse ’ s protected resources. Protected resources are resources of the community spouse which are not considered available to the institutionalized spouse. See Part 419 , Protection of Resources .
