135 ADVANCE NOTICE PERIOD (ANP) (AAM)
SR 03-14 Dated 02/03 Previous Policy
_____________________________________________________________
Notify individuals in advance of termination of assistance, a decrease in the level of eligibility, or a decrease in the amount of benefits. The time frame between the date the NOD is generated and the date the action actually takes effect is called the advance notice period (ANP).
The standard ANP is 10 days. Under some circumstances the ANP is not required, is reduced to 5 days, or is expanded to 30 days. The effect of the ANP on benefits is as follows:
. Financial Assistance - Terminating cases receive only payments due prior to the expiration of the ANP. Decreasing cases receive the lower payment for the payroll in which the ANP expires.
. Medical Assistance - Terminations are effective the last day of the ANP. See Part 161 , Termination of Medical Assistance, QMB, and SLMB, for Exceptions . Decreases in level of eligibility are effective the day after the ANP expires.
