The records on the Sanction/Disqualification (FMAM) screen may contain errors or insufficient information, since the information is received from other states. There are a few potential problems that must be corrected as they are found.

Incorrect Social Security Numbers: The federal file system uses the social security number to match against individuals in our system. An incorrect social security number in the federal file or in our system, then entered into FAMIS, may cause an household’s benefits to be reduced in error. If it appears this has happened, verify that the social security number in our system is correct, and verify that the disqualified member was not subject to the disqualification. This may require contacting another state or county. Once you are certain the social security number is incorrect, and the individual is disqualified incorrectly, contact the SNAP Program and Policy Unit to correct the social security number. If the household the individual is in has an active SNAP case, remove the disqualification and adjust the benefits. Restore benefits to the household for the period of time the individual was incorrectly disqualified. Refer to the WIBCA user guide if necessary. If the case is closed because the disqualification is imposed, cancel close the case and restore benefits.

Incorrect Dates: The start date can be entered into the Sanction/Disqualification screen by many different agencies. The system calculates the end date for disqualifications based on the start date entered. In some instances, the start date may be entered incorrectly, or the end date not calculated correctly. If this occurred, contact the SNAP Program and Policy Unit at 573-751-3178 to have the start date and end dates corrected. The system will then adjust the benefits accordingly. Restore any lost benefits to the household. Refer to the WIBCA user guide if necessary.

Missing Disqualifications: The Sanction/Disqualification (FMAM) screen may not show all the disqualifications that were ever determined. Some were never reported to the federal file or were not entered into the Sanction/Disqualification (FMAM) screen. However, the system requires a first disqualification before adding a second, and a second disqualification before adding a third. Previous disqualifications must be entered into FAMIS before a current disqualification can be entered. Refer to the user guide Entering a Sanction or Disqualification.
