Section 4.1: Introduction 10/2000 Staffing for each local agency and clinic should include adequate personnel to perform administrative and clinical duties. Qualifications for staff who can perform specific portions of the certification, referral, education, planning, and supervisory functions required in WIC are specified in federal regulations and state policy. Activities which involve determining nutritional risk, prescribing food packages, supervising certification and educational activities, or nutrition counseling are restricted to staff which meet specific qualifications. In addition, staff members may be delegated certain portions of the operations of the WIC Program, to ensure that all administrative and certification activities are completed.
