I-1200 MOTHER'S MEDICAID ELIGIBILITY (DEEMED NEWBORN CHILDREN ONLY)

I-1210 REQUIREMENT

The mother must be Medicaid eligible at the time the child is born. This includes a mother who is determined retroactively eligible for the date the child is born.

Note: Do not deem the child if the mother is certified for Qualified Medicare Beneficiary(QMB) Only, Specified Low-Income Medicare Beneficiary (SLMB) Only, Qualified Disabled and Working Individual (QDWI), or Qualified Individual (QI).

I-1220 VERIFICATION

Verify the mother's eligibility for Medicaid. Sources include: • Louisiana Medicaid Eligibility Determination System (LaMEDS) files, or • Medicaid Enterprise Systems (MES) files.

I-1230 DOCUMENTATION

Document the case record. A copy of the proof may be scanned into the Enterprise Document Management System (EDMS).
