MS 3500 TRANSPORTATION PAYMENT PROCEDURES (1)
[Individuals who are participating in the SNAP E&T program are eligible to receive a monthly transportation assistance payment up to $25. Transportation payments are paid once the SNAP recipient has been determined to be a good fit for E&T, agreed to participate, and completes the E&T assessment with the E&T Provider. The individual must agree to continue in the E&T program. The E&T provider will request the transportation payments. Once the request is received, the system will auto-issue transportation payments by mail with a paper check, it is important to have a current valid mailing address. After the assessment, the individual will need to complete the SNET 145 to request ongoing transportation assistance along with form to verify monthly hours. Client statement is accepted as verification of transportation expenses. The payment is entered through Benefit Management and will not exceed $25 per month regardless of the amount the E&T participant spends. A warning banner will display when a worker attempts to issue a transportation check for more than $25.
Transportation payments are authorized as follows:
1. SNAP participants who complete the assessment and agree to participate in the E&T program ongoing are eligible for up to $25 transportation payment based on anticipated expenses.
2. Active E&T participants are eligible to continue to receive ongoing transportation payments up to $25 for each month they participate and provide documentation.]
NOTE: It is imperative that workers ask individuals who identify as being homeless to provide an actual mailing address rather than listing a mailing address to which mail cannot reasonably be delivered. Workers must also ensure the mailing address is updated for the individual on Worker Portal.
