MS 2105 ABAWD EXEMPTIONS (1)

This policy only applies to ABAWD determination and exemptions and DOES NOT apply to normal work registration requirements. See MS 1650 for work registration exemptions.

A. A SNAP recipient is not an ABAWD or is exempt from ABAWD requirements if the member is:

1. Exempt from work registration as specified in MS 1650.

2. [Age 17 and under or age 65 and older. Changes in age that result in a change in ABAWD status are handled as outlined in MS 1750.

3. Medically certified as physically or mentally unfit for employment.

4. An adult household member living in a household with members under age 14, including the spouse of the member.

5. Pregnant.

6. Living in a waived county.]

Ensure that the ABAWD exemption policy is applied correctly by reviewing applicable questions on the system for the appropriate response and the Eligibility Determination Group (EDG). Do this prior to disposing of all case actions.
