MS 6732 [1] Volume 2 - Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) MS 6732 – R. 5/1/26 – OMTL – 694 [Death of Head of Household When the head-of-household (HOH) is reported as deceased, follow the policy below using normal processing procedures. A. If the HOH dies: 1. Perform a case change, enter the date of death and verification source for the deceased individual, run eligibility, and dispose to discontinue the current SNAP case; 2. If the remaining members wish to continue receiving SNAP, complete a new application in the name of the new HOH; 3. Issue a new Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card in the new HOH’s, if needed; 4. All new benefits issued will be accessed with the new EBT account and card; and 5. Advise the household they may continue to spend any remaining benefits issued on the old EBT card until they are exhausted. Eligibility for benefits remaining on the deceased member’s card was previously determined for those members and therefore belongs to them.]
