The $4350 is added to the other resources ($500 bank account and $850 countable value for the other vehicle) to show the total value of $5700. Then the resources standard of $3000 is subtracted from the total value of $5700 to the resultant $2700.
The $700 is used to determine the disqualification period of 6 months.
EXAMPLE 2:
The AG containing an elderly member transferred non-homestead property valued at $6500. The AG has no other resources. They will have a $3000 resource limit.
The countable value is $6500. Other resources are then added to the countable resource (none for this AG). Then subtracts the AG's resource standard of 3000 leaving $3500.
The $3500 is used to determine the period of disqualification which is 9 months.
The following is a chart which determines the period of disqualification based on the amount of resources in excess of the resource limit:
Amount in Excess of Resource Limit Period of Disqualification $0-$249.99 1 month $250-$999.99 3 months $1000-$2999.99 6 months $3000-$4999.99 9 months $5000- and up 12 months 2640.05.10 TRANSFERS NOT AFFECTING ELIGIBILITY (S)
The following transfers do not affect eligibility: • Resources that would not otherwise affect eligibility. • Resources that are sold or traded at, or near, fair market value. • Resources transferred between members of the same AG. • Resources transferred for reasons other than qualifying (or attempting to qualify) for benefits.
