Lead Agencies must have ongoing training requirements for all caregivers, teachers, and directors of eligible CCDF providers for health and safety standards but have discretion on frequency and training content (e.g., pediatric CPR refresher every year and recertification every 2 years). Lead Agencies have discretion on which health and safety standards are subject to ongoing training. Lead Agencies may exempt relative providers from these requirements. 5.6.1 Required ongoing training of health and safety standards Describe any required ongoing training of health and safety standards for caregivers, teachers, and directors of the following CCDF eligible provider types. a. Licensed child care centers: After completion of the initial 12 hours of trainings in orientation period, 12-hours of annual trainings are required for all providers and staff at facilities participating with the Idaho Child Care Program. The annual training requirements include: A two-hour training targeting a specific health and safety topic, commonly referred to as a refresher course mandatory for all providers, and 10 elective hours of approved training topics selected individually. As the initial training series is updated every three years, providers may complete the updated trainings and receive credit for those training hours. The annual refresher course, mandatory for all providers and staff at facilities participating with the Idaho Child Care Program, must be fully aligned to at least one of the CCDF health and safety training topics, ensuring that all providers receive training on at least one federally required topic annually after completing their initial trainings. b.
