• Family Planning Clinics and Programs • Juvenile Redirections Programs • Practical Academic Cultural Education (PACE) for Girls • Children In Need of Services/Families In Need of Services (CINS/FINS)
While programming for out-of-wedlock births and teenage pregnancy is offered through various agencies, Florida is launching the FL WINS (Florida Workforce Integrated Networking Systems) project which aims to better align various partner agency customer management systems through data sharing and common intake platforms. This strategic alignment and coordination includes an online opportunity portal, allowing access to available state, federal, and local services. Through FL WINS, it is anticipated TANF clients will be informed of services and programs offered across various state agencies through a “one-stop shop” model.
Key solution components of the FL WINS online opportunity portal include: 1. A customer portal to enable Floridians to easily obtain support by offering multiple points of entry to apply for services and receive information. 2. A Common Intake form to reduce duplicative information being entered by agency staff and Floridians requesting services, and to refer them to services targeted to meet their needs. 3. A data hub that assists agencies to better serve Floridians by providing a comprehensive overview and a greater ability to link them with the services they may need.
5.9 SUBSIDIZED EMPLOYMENT FOR YOUTH
Purpose: The purpose of the program is to extend the use of TANF funding to support subsidized summer employment opportunities for youth up to the age of 18, or 19 if the youth is in school full time in a secondary school or its equivalent (as defined by Florida’s definition of “minor child”) with public sector organizations, private sector companies, and nonprofit organizations.
Eligibility Criteria: Youths eligible to participate are from families that are currently receiving TCA, or youth in families that have an annual income at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level.
Restriction on the Amount, Frequency, or Duration of Services or Payments: The LWDBs determine any restrictions in negotiation with the potential employer.
Major Activities: Major activities include recruitment of and contract negotiation with employers in the community, recruitment of youth participants, provide work experience activities that will teach personal responsibility, reinforce obligations and rewards of retaining a job, and provide documented learning experiences relevant to the type of work performed.
