Simplified Reporting 5.3.2 “Simplified” Reporting requirements apply to all SNAP households assigned a six (6) or (12) twelve month certification periods. This includes, but is not limited to: • most TANF households,
• households where all adults are not disabled/elderly,
• disabled/elderly adults with earnings,
• homeless households that have been assigned a certification period of 6 months, • households who are eligible for IDA and have been assigned a certification period of 12 months, unless all the adult members are either disabled or elderly and have been assigned a twenty-four (24) month certification period, and
• Migrant or seasonal farm workers. However, no household is subject to Simplified Reporting requirements until they have been notified of the requirements through a notice. Recipients subject to “Simplified” reporting are not required to report any nonfinancial changes, such as household composition, between periodic reports. Households subject to “Simplified” reporting are only required to report financial changes if the change results in their total gross monthly household income exceeding 130 percent of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) for their household size at the time of their most recent SNAP certification or recertification. If the household’s income increases above the 130 percent of the Federal Poverty Level, it must be reported no later than 10 days from the end of the calendar month in which the income increased.
Example 1 Jacey Jackstone, unemployed with no income, applies for SNAP benefits on June 7th. She is approved for SNAP from June 7th through May 31st and is subject to Simplified Reporting. On August 3rd, Jacey obtains new employment. She receives her first pay on August 19th, which is above the 130 percent of the FPL. As a result, she must report her change in income no later than 10 days from the end of August, i.e., no later than August 21st which is 10 days before the end of the month of August.
