ESA SNAP Policy Manual 139 − If a household contains a student whose income is excluded and the student turns 18 during the month of application, ESA will exclude the student’s earnings in the month of application and count the student’s earnings in the following month. If the student turns 18 during the certification period, the student’s income will be excluded until the month following the month in which the student turns 18. Example Darlene attends high school and assists her parents in a street vendor business, and the profits are shared. Prorate the net earnings and exclude one-third as attributable to Darlene.
