POLICY STATEMENT The State Agency must develop, implement, evaluate, and promote a Nutrition Services Plan in alignment with the FNS WIC Nutrition Service Standards #1. The State Agency must promote its Nutrition Services Plan and integrate relevant components of the Plan into public health nutrition and other agency programs and must make the plan (or appropriate summary documents) available to WIC, Maternal and Child Health Bureau, and food assistance partners. PROCEDURE 1. The State Agency must plan ongoing activities with the Local Agency and additional stakeholders that ensure alignment with the Nutrition Services Plan and report on the progress of established goals and objectives annually. The Local Agency must establish their Nutrition Services Plan (the Local Agency Workplan & Narrative, 10.001B) according to DC WIC policy 2.002 Local Agency Nutrition Services Plan. 2. The State Nutrition Services Plan will align with goals and objectives outlined in the annual State Plan in accordance with DC WIC policy 12.011 Annual State Plan. 3. As part of the DC WIC State Plan, the Nutrition Services Plan shall be made public and promoted in accordance with DC WIC policy 12.011 Annual State Plan. 4. The State Agency will ensure completion of the evaluation component of the Nutrition Services Plan prior to August 15th of each year as part of the State Plan process. DEFINITIONS Nutrition Services Plan: Nutrition Services include the full range of activities performed by a variety of staff to operate a WIC Program. The Nutrition Services Plan outlines the State and Local Agency plans to deliver quality nutrition services based on the needs of its population and participants and provide staff training in accordance with federal regulations. The plan includes the nutrition services section of the state plan, as well as the State Agency efforts to incorporate the FNS WIC Nutrition Services Standards.
