WORK EXPERIENCE COMPONENT: APPRENTICESHIP Description of the component. Provide a summary of the activities and services. In Colorado, an apprenticeship is an employer-driven model and type of experiential learning, combining paid, on-the-job learning with related classroom instruction in order to increase an apprentice’s skill level and wages and provide employers with the talent they need to succeed. EF aligns with CDLE’s apprenticeship definition, which ensures that an apprenticeship program is a strong plan that contains all terms and conditions for the qualification, recruitment, selection, employment, and training of apprentices, including the requirements for a written apprenticeship agreement between the apprentice and the sponsor. Apprenticeships can be provided by a community college, technical school, apprenticeship training school, or by the employer at multiple locations. EF POs will partner with training providers, apprenticeship providers, and employers in their area to develop internal business processes that identify when clients are ready for WBLA. Apprenticeships must be a sustained interaction with industry or community professionals in real-world settings to the extent practicable or simulated environments at an educational institution that foster in-depth, firsthand engagement with the tasks required in a given career field, that are aligned to curriculum and instruction. Apprenticeships emphasize employer engagement, include specific training objectives, and lead to regular employment. While engaged in this component, clients have access to educational and career counseling and other supportive services, directly or indirectly, as well as opportunities to attain at least one industry-recognized credential. All work activities and unsubsidized employment placements are subject to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and minimum wage laws apply. Is this component subsidized by SNAP E&T?
