Recordkeeping requirements
Every individual who is subject to Colorado income tax or otherwise required to file a return must keep and preserve such books, accounts, and records as may be necessary to determine the correct amount of tax. Such books, accounts, and records must be kept and preserved for a period of four years following the due date of the return, the filing of a return, or the payment of the tax, whichever occurs later. All such books, accounts, and records shall be open for examination by the Department at any time.
