Height and Weight Conversion Charts WPPM 970-80 JOB AID
Revised California WIC Policy and Procedure Manual
Page 1 of 3 December 12, 2025 The following charts convert decimals in pounds into the ounces equivalent and feet inches into inches. Some conversions are rounded numbers and not exact mathematical equivalents. The figures are provided for the purpose of entering anthropometric measurements in WIC WISE. I. Weight Conversion – Decimals in Pounds into Ounces
A. Converting Weights in Kilograms to Pounds and Ounces You may also receive weight measurements in kilograms instead of pounds. 1. Convert the weight to pounds, and tenths of pounds (decimals) by multiplying the kilograms by 2.21. 2. Use the conversion factor and chart above to convert the weight to pounds and ounces. Example: Weight on referral sheet: 13.4 kilograms. 13.4 x 2.21 = 29.61 pounds 29.61 pounds = 29 pounds 10 ounces
Decimals in Pounds Equals Ounces .1 = 2 .2 = 3 .3 = 5 .4 = 6 .5 = 8 .6 = 10 .7 = 11 .8 = 13 .9 = 14

California WIC Policy and Procedure Manual
Revised December 12, 2025
A. WIC WISE height is entered as inches and ¼ inches, rounded to the nearest ¼ inch: • .25 = ¼ (enter 1 in the ¼ column) • .50 = 2/4 (enter 2 in the ¼ column); note 2/4= ½ • .75 = ¾ (enter 3 in the ¼ column)
Examples: ● Particiant is 3’ 4.56”, it would be 36” + 4.56” = 40.56”. In WIC WISE enter 40 in the *in field & 2 in the *1/4 field.
● Participant is 2’ 7.82”, it would be 24” + 7.82” = 31.82”. In WIC WISE enter 31 in the *in field & 3 in the *1/4 field.
