Details of Public Law 119-21, section 70429 , One Big Beautiful Bill Act

This provision increases the expenses paid limitation from $10,000 to $50,000 applicable to treat certain expenses paid by whaling captains charged with the responsibility of maintaining and carrying out sanctioned whaling activities as a charitable contribution.

California generally conforms, under the PITL, to the federal charitable contribution rules under IRC section 170 as of the specified date of January 1, 2025, with modifications, and as a result, does not conform to the increased limitation for expenses paid by certain whaling captains in support of Native Alaskan subsistence whaling.
