SNAP Manual 08/01/05 Through the Income and Eligibility Verification System (IEVS), the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program requests wage, unearned income, and benefit information from the Employment Security Department (ESD), and the Social Security Administration (SSA). The social security numbers (SSNs) of all applicant and recipient members, including excluded members, are used in the IEVS matching process. Information obtained through IEVS is used to: • Verify household eligibility; • Determine if a household is receiving the correct amount of SNAP; and to • Obtain information needed to conduct criminal or civil prosecutions based on improper receipt of SNAP.
