State Plan Checklist - NUTRITION SERVICES 8/14/2026 Page 1
INTRODUCTION
Nutrition services include the full range of activities a variety of staff perform to operate a WIC Program such as, participant screening and assessment, nutrition education and counseling, breastfeeding promotion and support and health promotion, food package prescriptions, and health care and other referrals. The WIC Nutrition Service Standards, available at WIC Works Resource System at Home WIC Works Resource System (usda. gov), is a resource for State agencies to use in providing quality nutrition services. The following sections provide a brief overview of the information federal regulations require to be in State Plans. The questions that follow are designed to assist the State agencies in submitting compliant State Plans for FNS approval. State agencies are encouraged to review each federal regulation in its entirety. A.
