Division of Public Assistance
TRANSMITTAL NUMBER: MC Manual Change #22
MANUAL: Aged, Disabled and Long Term Care Medicaid Eligibility Manual
DATE: September 1, 2011
We are making several changes to incorporate new policy, clarify existing policy, and align policies within our program policy manuals. These changes include:
Adding policy that allows caseworkers the option to use CourtView to verify that a trust is registered with the Alaska court system. Adding procedures emphasizing that the DPA Division of Public Assistance caseworker is responsible for either approving or denying a TEFRA Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act, P.L. 97-248 application within 90 days. Clarifying that there is no time limit to correct a cost-of-care error and that retroactive adjustments to a recipient’s cost-of-care liability are treated the same for institutionalized persons and or HCB Home and Community-Based waiver recipients.
Other changes are either technical in nature or clarifications that are the result of policy questions or suggestions from the field.
Highlights of these policy revisions are described below. If you have any questions please contact the Policy and Program Development Team at 465-3382 or email dpapolicy@alaska.gov .
