Axiom Foundation press release card, October 22, 2026: “Traceable, Transparent Rules for Public Benefits” — joining the Public Benefit Innovation Fund’s Spring 2026 cohort.

The Public Benefit Innovation Fund has announced its Spring 2026 cohort: $11 million to 11 projects working on the hardest problems in public benefits delivery. The Axiom Foundation is one of the eleven, taking on the layer every benefits system runs on: the rules themselves.

We will work with a state agency to test open encodings of SNAP eligibility rules — rules written as software that people can read and computers can run, with every provision linked to the law it comes from. The transparently encoded rules become a foundation states can build on: government systems give families faster, more accurate decisions, and the same rules can ground the AI tools states are adopting. We will publish the resulting encoded rules and what we learn under an open license.

Thank you to the Center for Civic Futures and Recoding America for backing this work, and congratulations to the rest of the cohort.
